Biblissima and Stanford University: Viewer Interoperability Meetings

From 13th to 17th May 2013, Biblissima and the Bibliothèque nationale de France will be hosting a series of meetings with the Digital Manuscript Technical Working Group of Stanford University Libraries, on the subject of interoperability and shared viewers for digital libraries. In addition to members of the team at Stanford, representatives from other American and European partners will be in attendance.

These meetings have been organised within the context of the SharedCanvas (interoperable data model for medieval manuscripts) and IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) projects.

An open session on interoperability standards will be held on Friday, 17th May at 2pm, to address the following points:

  • Why interoperability? What are the benefits?
  • New standards for interoperability: SharedCanvas, IIIF and the data models they are based upon
  • Current developments in the US
  • Current developments in Europe

See attachment for the full agenda for the week. These discussions will be technical in nature and directly related to current projects at Stanford and partner institutions. If you are interested in attending the open session, please contact: info@biblissima-condorcet.fr.
