Archéologie et Philologie d’Orient et d’Occident (AOrOc)

AOrOc conducts both archaeological and literary research. The laboratory runs 25 archaeological missions in the West and in the East, which benefit from the support of the technical clusters of the laboratory (archaeology, publishing, digital humanities, communication). AOrOc’s philological projects cover a large number of Greek and Latin authors over a long period of time.

At the crossroads of philological, historical and archaeological studies, AOrOc pursues the publication of important epigraphic corpora, in languages as varied as Linear A, pre-Roman italic languages and Latin.

The Digital Humanities cluster contributes to philological work by developing reading and analysis techniques. The EPHE has just concentrated in AOrOc several of its researchers most involved in digital methods and in e-Scripta, who join specialists in GIS and 3D reconstruction.
