Our purpose in this project is to establish a corpus of written material in all media (except coins) produced between ca 525 and ca 825 in or for the territory of Merovingian Burgundy in order to study the relationships between the written objects and the texts they transmit.
The availability of this corpus according to FAIR principles will enable scholars to carry out such research using a comparative approach involving different supports for writing, the texts transmitted, and images of the objects. The corpus will encourage several avenues of study, the primary ones being the practice of writing, the transmission of texts, and the creation and circulation of these written objects.
