Col&Mon2: Monastic and canonial institutions in medieval France

The Col&Mon2 project aims to expand and update Col&Mon's initial corpus on religious establishments, in medieval France, which were home to communities of canons (collegiate churches) and monks (monasteries) - both being major producers of manuscripts. The project’s objectives are to integrate cathedral chapters into the initial corpus, to move the data into a renovated editing tool, and to create an interface that would enable both visualization and exploration. Through the manuscript productions associated with the database's descriptive records, Col&Mon2 will include both texts and manuscripts. The project will involve integrating our data into the Biblissima+ authority repositories, in particular geographical names, individuals, organizations, manuscript ratings and, possibly, iconographic descriptors.
