Recent multispectral imaging techniques open up unprecedented possibilities for reading texts that have been erased, either intentionally or due to the obsolescence of the medium. As the use of these techniques becomes more widespread, it is becoming increasingly important to standardise and document the protocols for photographing, computer post-processing, digital preservation and dissemination, so as to make the results as interoperable and reusable as possible and to avoid carrying out multiple interventions on fragile originals. The aim of the project is to produce recommendations for French and international institutions wishing to set up a multispectral imaging process for their heritage book collections, either by equipping themselves or by calling in specialised laboratories.
